HP recalls faulty batteries

Computer maker Hewlett Packard is recalling some of the batteries used in its laptop computers. “HP and the battery manufacturers believe that certain battery packs shipped in some notebook PC products may pose a potential safety hazard to customers.

Computer maker Hewlett Packard is recalling some of the batteries used in its laptop computers.

“HP and the battery manufacturers believe that certain battery packs shipped in some notebook PC products may pose a potential safety hazard to customers. The batteries can overheat, ­posing a fire and burn hazard,” the company said in a statement.

Consumers should immediately remove the batteries from their notebook computer and contact HP or their local representative to determine if their battery is included in this recall.

Models from the HP Pavilion, HP Compaq, Compaq Presario and G-series are affected.
