Between 2007 and the end of May this year there were 361 persons who were charged in court with having attacked or assaulted members of the police force during the execution of their duties. Of these, 254 were found guilty as charged and handed down prison or suspended sentences, probation and fines. The information was given by Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici in reply to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Michael Falzon.
