International workshop on Petri nets and software engineering, Newcastle upon Tyne, June 20.
To successfully develop complex systems composed of interacting and reactive software and hardware components, the use of a precise language at different stages of the development process is crucially important.
Petri nets are becoming increasingly popular in this area, as they provide a uniform language supporting the tasks of modelling, validation, and verification.
A Petri net, also known as a place/transition net or P/T net, is one of several mathematical modelling languages for the description of distributed systems. Their popularity is due to the fact that Petri nets capture fundamental aspects of causality, concurrency and choice in a natural and mathematically precise way without compromising readability.
Topics that are set to be covered during the conference include: modelling; validation and execution; verification; the application of Petri nets in software engineering; open problems and new applications of Petri nets; the relation of Petri nets and software engineering; tools.

International Workshop on Enterprise Crowdsourcing, Paphos, Cyprus, June 20.
Web 2.0 provides the technological foundations for crowdsourcing, which allows networked experts to work collaboratively or competitively to complete a specific task. Crowdsourcing has the potential to significantly transform business processes by incorporating the knowledge and skills of globally distributed experts to drive business objectives at shorter cycles and lower cost.
Crowdsourcing takes many different shapes and forms, from mass data collection to enabling end-user driven customer support services. However, to fully adopt this mechanism and benefit from appealing value propositions in terms of reducing the time-to-value, a set of challenges remain to be solved.
This event will examine novel enterprise crowdsourcing applications and bring together researchers and practitioners to facilitate stimulating discussions on the different aspects of crowdsourcing.

Conference on The future of the Social Web, Barcelona, June 21.
The ‘social web’ is a term which denotes the use of the World Wide Web as a kind of social media. A key component of this activity is how people socialise or interact with each other online and through content-sharing sites which offer a social networking functionality.
In light of the recent wave of social media technologies and services, there is increasing proof that that the web is being fundamentally transformed by social media.
This is both in terms of how content is created and shared, and also in terms of how business and society are embracing social media.
The aim of this workshop will be to encourage discussion and sharing of ideas and innovative research results that focus on the future of the social web. It will also seek to promote interdisciplinary research and exchange of ideas in this area between industry and different fields of academia (e.g., computer science, mathematics, physics, psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology, etc.).
