FinanceMalta is to hold an educational clinic on the aviation industry at the Malta Stock Exchange in Valletta next Thursday.
The 90-minute event is supported by the Civil Aviation Directorate and will provide financial intermediaries with help to market the new national aircraft register. The ‘clinic’ will give an overview of the new opportunities that have arisen under the Aircraft Registration Act, 2010.
The Act has broadened the possibilities for registering aircraft, not only by extending the capacity in which a person may apply to register aircraft, but also widened the category of those qualified to register aircraft that are not used to provide air services or that are in construction, making the Maltese register more accessible to the private aviation sector.
Speakers include Michelle Grima of the Civil Aviation Directorate, Carl Tabone, head of Airworthiness Inspectorate, and Dierk Reitzig, director, airworthiness inspector, AP Malta Ltd.
According to Dr Grima: “The Civil Aviation Directorate within Transport Malta is gearing up to embrace the aviation world. To help support financial intermediaries and service providers in assisting their clientele in making Malta their jurisdiction of choice, Transport Malta will be actively participating at this educational clinic organised by Finance Malta to offer some practical insights into the regulatory aspects of aircraft registration.”
With a history of over 40 years of experience in aircraft registration in Malta, the Civil Aviation Directorate within Transport Malta regulates all aviation activities in Malta.
It ensures that the Maltese air transport industry continues to develop to serve the island’s needs. The directorate is currently gearing up to maintain its competitiveness in the aviation industry in the 21st century: it is currently revising its strategy to reach a much wider and more diverse audience, a large part of which remains untapped in business development terms. Through the establishment of an ambitious aircraft register and the setting up of the Authority for Transport in Malta, the island is well positioned as one of the EU’s most important business locations in this sector.
