‘Dance of fire’ at Mqabba next week

Between June 11 and 19, the centenary feast in honour of Our Lady of the Lilies will be celebrated in Mqabba. Ground and aerial fireworks displays will be held on each day of the feast. The main fireworks event will be held on Saturday, June 18, eve of the feast, starting at 9.30 p.m.

Danza del Fuego is the theme chosen for this unique spectacular pyromusical, featuring a varied number of ground effects synchronised to music. The effects have been carefully blended together with aerial spider web shells, spherical ball shells in all sizes and traditional cylindrical Maltese shells. In addition to these there will be a variety of design shells. A traditional aerial display will follow including a wide range of timed reports and colour multi-break shells for which Lily Fireworks is very well renowned.

This display is prepared by Lily Fireworks Merlin Fire (Malta), acquiring great success in 2007 with the innovative pyromusical display entitled Waltzing Fires, and in 2008, 2009 and 2010 with the first two editions of Danza del Fuego.

The aerial part of the display will be completed with a grand-finale round about 11.30 p.m., followed by a fine ground fireworks display, including a large number of original mechanised set-pieces known as Maltese Irdieden set in motion by a wide selection of coloured drivers and lances. In 2008, this work was reckoned nationally during the National Festival of Mechanised Ground Fireworks, with Lily Fireworks emerging as the overall winner among 16 other main Maltese factories.
