Man misses birth of twins because of arrest
A Syrian man who was allegedly involved in a massive fight in Gzira on Saturday night, missed the birth of his twin babies last night because he was under arrest.
Mohammed Alnaser, 35, was taken to court today along with Kasem Ksem, 34 and Mamdouh Altllas, 27, who are also Syrian.
They were accused of having seriously injured a Libyan man, Alktet Ali Aiad, during the fight in Ponsomby Street at about 8.30 p.m. They were also accused of attempting to injure Amge Mohammed Jafan.
During the court proceedings, defence counsel pleaded that the three Syrians were defending themselves. One of the Syrians owed some money to a Libyan man, but when he showed up at a bar to hand over the money he was told "It is not your money that I want, but I want to beat you up," counsel said.
At the time there were just over 100 Libyan men in the bar. The case continues.
The Syrians were granted bail against a deposit of €1,500 each.

It seems the government has completely given up on any type of immigration controls. Most plasterers seem to be Syrians employing only Syrians. one wonders how many are on expired visas etc. etc.,

Things in Malta are going from bad to worse, seriously isn't there anyone in power who is seeing this, I am not talking about the one argument above but just read through the papers over the last few weeks, crime rate is sky rocketing and all the government seems to think about is whether to save face and how to vote on Divorce. Malta used to benefit from its reputation from being so safe with families i know choosing to holiday here over other Med locations just because they don't need to worry about their children etc. Nowadays its hardly the case as i even know of a couple who chose to leave Malta due to feeling insecure here, the problem is that things happen else where but at least those incidents get investigated, in Malta reporting an incident seems to mostly fall on def ears, there was an article a few days ago on 112 calls made to the police with no response or action taken. There will soon be a domino effect and we will all suffer if something isn't done as its not only safety in Malta that is a serious issue but the island on a whole that needs some serious revamping.

Oh! This is interesting 100 Libyans in a bar...I thought they were much more need on the Misratah front! Unbelievable but it seems to be true. Some Libyans are dying for 'freedom' while others in Malta probably praying for their compatriots in a local bar.
