Jane Fonda, Kathie Lee and Cher have all enjoyed their time in the limelight over the past 20 years, shining brightly as the first international stars of the fitness industry.

All we had to do was join in and follow them through their books, video cassettes and DVDs, and we too could enjoy being as beautiful as the most glamorous celebrities.

But watch out Fonda and Lee, because a harder-bodied new breed of fitness diva is here to exploit the most powerful medium of all: the uber-fit internet sensation from the Czech Republic – Zuzana. In her short reign as online queen of exercise and fitness thus far, she has released more material than any other fitness personality to come before her.

From gym-going girls passionate about fitness, the ‘bodyrock’ figure is now the most popular request received by fitness instructors and personal trainers everywhere.

Upon a first glance at any of her videos, it is also obvious why the boys like her too. Through a series of cheeky camera angles, and tight-fitting outfits, Zuzana huffs and puffs her way through some of the coolest home-based workouts you’ve ever seen. Keen local observers will also notice some familiar surroundings, with some of her most popular Youtube videos having been shot in Gozo.

Okay, so she’s got our attention with a few fitness modelling tricks of the trade, but how did she maintain it? There is a lot more to Zuzana than a pretty face; she became so popular because her workouts are actually pretty darn brilliant.

Any fitness professional cannot help but notice this girl’s talent and passion for exercise and fitness.

Her workouts are original, easy to follow, require a bare minimum of equipment, and above all, are highly effective for women.

I was once asked whether I think Zuzana’s online workout regimen is all she really does, or whether she sneaks in some other secret stuff she’s not telling us about.

Well, in combination with good genetics and a perfect diet, yes, the workouts she performs for our benefit are certainly more than enough to sculpt her famous curves.

Luckily for us, she even throws in a comprehensive nutrition section on her website too. You will also find testimonials on her site from fellow ‘Bodyrockers’ all over the world, who have enjoyed similar impressive results as her by following the online exercise and diet plans to the letter.

So what’s all the fuss about and what makes her workouts so unique? The charm of Bodyrocking lies in its simplicity. Zuzana has developed her own brand of fitness known as the “home workout movement”. As her videos prove, she can work out virtually anywhere, with only a limited inventory of equipment. She sells this equipment through her website; however it is all easily improvised if you would like to give her workouts a try without forking out any hard-earned cash first.

Her electronic interval timer can be substituted by a regular clock on the wall which has a second hand, or Google ‘free interval timer’ and use your computer instead.

A skipping rope is extremely cheap to buy, however it can even be improvised using nylon rope with some tape round the centre to weigh it down.

She uses a dipping station which can be improvised by using the backs of two chairs positioned opposite each other, and a sandbag, easily substituted by a regular sausage shaped gym bag. Place two-litre bottles of water inside to increase the resistance and wrap them up in some clothes or towels to cushion everything out a little, allowing the bag to be dropped without fear of damaging the bottles inside, or your floor.

The piece of equipment Zuzana uses most of all, of course, is the resistance of her own body.

On the Bodyrock site you will find an encyclopedia of all her favourite moves. These form the building blocks of her workouts, which she uploads regularly and keeps an archive of. Most of Zuzana’s workouts double up as challenges too, which keeps things fun.

Bodyrockers strive to complete the maximum amount of repetitions within the allotted time, trying to beat each other or Zuzana herself.

Dietary challenges are issued too, and are usually fairly simple to follow. A weekly challenge could simply involve staying away from all refined sugars, or including a tomato a day, or eating only lean sources of protein.
