The Church's sure and true direction (2)
Contrary to Frans H. Said (May 31) there can be no “compromise” with divorce. In every circumstance it is evil. Unlike Mr Said, true Catholics do not change morality out of fear of “living in a time warp”. The truth is the same year in and year out.

The truth is the same year in and year out. Pope John Paul II once said that “In the proclamation of the Gospel, we must not fear hostility or unpopularity, and we must refuse any compromise or ambiguity which might conform us to the world’s way of thinking”. Having misunderstood Catholic teaching it is not surprising that Mr Said would also condemn the Society of St Pius X (SSPX) who have challenged - not Vatican II - as Mr Said thinks, but it’s correct interpretation.
Sadly, the people of Malta have caved in to the hedonism that has already engulfed Europe. They have declared, by their vote, that marriage is, essentially, nothing more than a contract between two people.
Soon, divorce will be common in Malta just as it is in every other nation that has legalised it. When that happens the people of Malta will be clamouring for homosexuality, polygamy, gay marriages etc. and there will be nothing legally preventing them from gaining their legal acceptance. The people of Malta have signed their own moral death warrant by voting to accept divorce. Malta is officially no longer a Catholic nation. The tragedy is that the people don’t know it yet.
Like Mr Said, and many other false Christian denominations, the people have determined in their vote that “Christianity is not about imposition”. The Catholic Church states otherwise – most notably in Lumen Gentium – which teaches that force via penal sanctions must be applied to wayward Catholics, and the 10 Commandments.
For the people of Malta however, there is no long the “Thou shall not” but only the “Thou shall do as they please”. Woe to Malta!
