Nine refugees from Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia left Malta last week to start a new life in the US.

Over 650 refugees have found a new home since a resettlement programme was launched in 2006, the US Embassy said.

The latest group of refugees will be resettled in different cities across the US and before they left they were invited to a reception by outgoing US Ambassador Douglas Kmiec at his residence in Attard.
