Malta Enterprise and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry are leading a business delegation to Tunisia between June 15 and 19.

Aimed at assessing the new business climate in Tunisia, the business delegation’s fact finding mission will be the first in a North African country following the uprising earlier this year.

Following on the establishment of the Maltese-Tunisian Business Council, the trade mission will help strenghten links between the various business organisations, facilitating business opportunities between firms in the two countries.

The business delegation will coincide with three major events that seek to promote the new trade and investment opportunities Tunisia offers.

The Tunisian Investment Forum will outline the new business attractiveness of the country through workshops, networking events and meetings between Tunisians and foreign entrepreneurs seeking partnerships and business opportunities.

Concurrently, the Tunis-Medindustrie Fair – the first international exhibition dedicated to industrial partnership and innovations and attracting more than 200 exhibitiors – as well as the Fortronic Fair, focusing on electronics and particularly on energy efficient solutions, will be held.

Tunisia is presenting itself as an educated and modern society open to the world, with a diversified economy based on the quality of its human resources. The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) in Tunis said the events “will focus on the new values conveyed by the revolution in terms of good governance, transperency, equal opportunities in free enterprise and the independence of justice”.

As part of their support, Malta Enterprise and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the Maltese Embassy in Tunis and the Tunisian Business organisations will endeavour to set up one-to-one meetings for the companies participating in the business delegation.

Malta Enterprise will also be reimburse 60 per cent of the cost for an economy-class air fare and provide a per diem allowance to one representative of each participating company. Businesses who would like to join the business delegation are to apply with Malta Enterprise by Wednesday.

Information and application forms may be obtained from www.maltaenterprise.com or by contacting Malta Enterprise on 2542 0000 or at internationalisation@maltaenterprise.com.
