Chairman’s team go 3-1 up

The friendly series between the Chairman’s and Captain’s teams is drawing to a close as the fourth match was played last weekend at Safi.

The Captain’s team batted first and had a superb start as Nowell Khosla and Joy Ghoseroy produced a partnership worth 50 runs.

Khosla made the most of the bowling, scoring 35 runs before being caught and bowled by Michael Grima. He hit four boundaries in his innings.

Ghoseroy followed a couple of overs later, ending with 18 runs.

After that ideal platform, one would have expected a huge score but it was not to be as the Captain’s team were unexpectedly bowled out for 99 runs in the 18th over.

Nadia Gosney remained not out with two runs.

For the Chairman’s team, Bikram Arora and Andy Naudi both took three wickets each.

The Captain’s team battled bravely and somewhat made up for their batting blunder by keeping their opponents to the last over before bowing out.

Malcolm Crabbe, who opened the innings and stayed unbeaten on 56 runs, was the rock for his team as others chipped in. Sam Aquilina batted well for 15 runs as Mike Caruana, Ghoseroy and Mark G. Sacco all took a wicket each.

The Chairman’s team have now opened a 3-1 lead in the five-game series which ends on Saturday.
