Melita today launched Facebook on Television, saying the world's most popular social network can now be enjoyed on a television set instead of using a computer. Melita's Facebook application went live today, viewers the opportunity to  keep in touch with friends and up-to-date on gossip even while watching live television.

This service is free of charge for all subscribers already in possession of the interactive Netbox, connected to Melita's Internet service on the Entertainment Pack. The Facebook application can be accessed anytime via a TV screen and is already enabled on all Melita Netbox set-top boxes.

The Melita remote control replaces the keyboard while the TV replaces the computer screen.

To access Facebook, customers need to tune in to Channel 998 or browse the channel list from the remote control.  Navigation and interaction with Facebook on TV takes place entirely through the Melita Netbox remote control.

Subscribers can also 'Like' a TV program or comment about whatever they are watching, all in real time and while still watching TV.

Multiple accounts on the same TV set

All the members of the household can use Facebook on TV and even friends who come over at home can enjoy their Facebook account on TV.
