The registered unemployed dropped by 13.4 per cent in April compared to the same period last year, according to official statistics.

During the same month, people registering for work amounted to 6,585 – 5,885 in Malta and 700 in Gozo, indicating a decrease of 967 in Malta and 54 in Gozo, the National Statistics Office said. A drop was recorded across all age groups, as did the length of unemployment, the NSO said.

Most unemployed men were seeking jobs related to services, sales and crafts while women were looking for service-oriented and clerical jobs.
