AFM recover corpse from sea

The Armed Forces of Malta yesterday recovered the corpse of an elderly woman which had been spotted floating in the sea off Xgħajra in Żabbar. The AFM said the body, of a 69-year-old from Marsa, was noticed by a fisherman at about 8 a.m.

It said the corpse did not appear to have been in the water for long and there was no sign of foul play. An autopsy is expected to be carried out to determine the cause of death.

Duty Magistrate Antonio Mizzi appointed court experts to assist him with the magisterial inquiry. The police are investigating.
