Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando said today said he felt comfortable in the Nationalist Party.
Speaking outside party headquarters ahead of a meeting of the parliamentary group which will discuss the outcome of the divorce referendum, he said: "I was, am and will continue to be active in the Nationalist Party," in which, he pointed out, he had been active since he was 15 years old.
He said he did not expect a negative reaction towards him following the outcome of the referendum.
The people had decided, he said, and he now looked forward to discussing how the will of the people would be respected in Parliament.
Dr Pullicino Orlando said that while it was up to every MP to decide on his course of action in Parliament, he expected the will of the people to be respected. He pointed out that as he had declared previously, had the people rejected divorce, he would have promptly withdrawn the divorce Bill in Parliament.
