The pro-divorce movement has written to the Electoral Commission requesting polling stations in Malta and Gozo to remain open for another hour.

"In the light of what we consider to be an admission of improper spiritual pressure by the Archdiocese of Malta on voters, we request that all polling stations in Malta and Gozo are kept open for a further hour and an advert to this effect is posted on PBS as soon as possible," the movement said in a letter to the Commission.

Despite the request, all polling stations closed on time.
