A man was this morning jailed for two years and fined €576 after he admitted to making two hoax bomb threats at the law courts to postpone his scheduled court sittings.

Carlos Falzon, 24, of Zejtun was found guilty of relapsing and breaching the conditions of two previous releases.

Mr Falzon made the calls on to police headquarters in Floriana from a phone booth opposite the law courts in Valletta on December 10 and 22.

Police Inspector James Grech explained the two phone calls, which were recorded, were made on the days Mr Falzon had to appear in court.

He had originally pleaded not guilty.
