At a Southern Oregon winery in the United States a wine has been released which had its grapes crushed by an elephant named George.

Last year, George stomped the grapes which were then processed and bottled by Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards and the resulting Riesling wine was launched at a fund-raising event held at George’s home, which is a nearby wildlife safari park.

People arriving at the elephant barn got to enjoy a show from the animals and try the new Riesling. The event was also used to bring in money for upgrades to the facility, which is needed to bring in new elephants. “This fundraiser is going to allow us to begin that process to do those upgrades, and allow us to bring in a multitude of different types of elephants,” said the park’s executive director.

A portion of all ticket and wine sales will go towards efforts to save elephants in the wild and for an extra $100 donation, one can get the bottle labels signed by George himself, pen in trunk.
