Ralph Decelis and Blanche Coppola left their mark on the 2011 IFBB European Championships after winning the mixed pairs competition.

Over 160 athletes from 30 countries competed in the IFBB European Championships which were held in Sofia.

Decelis travelled to Bulgaria in high spirits after being crowned Malta champion as well as clinching top spot in mixed pairs alongside Coppola. He had also placed first in his class and second overall at the IFBB Oslo Grand Prix in Norway.

IFBB-Malta sent a six-strong team for this year’s European Championships.

Decelis advanced to the finals, finishing sixth in his class after beating a number of top-class bodybuilders from all over Europe.

Stephen Borg was seventh, Kenneth Bugeja eighth, Gilbert Zammit ninth and Joseph Camilleri 11th.

The highlight of the weekend for the Maltese participants came when Decelis and Coppola were declared winners of the mixed pairs category, a prestigious honour indeed for the two bodybuilders who have reached new heights this year.

Maltese bodybuilders are concentrating on their preparations for the 2011 IFBB Mediterranean Championships, to be held at the Cottonera Sports Complex in October.
