Dissolution of the marital bond...by any other name (4)

The Bishop of Gozo is bringing back ugly memories of the Dark Ages by emulating the grandfather of GonziPN who used to stick his nose into the local political arena and bandied about scare tactics “of the soul” by fire and brimstone in order to coerce a lot of voters not to vote for Labour!

Bishop Grech should clarify his views about annulment, separation and cohabitation. It is absurd and ridiculous how the likes of holier than thou politicians such as Tonio Fenech, Austin Gatt, Edwin Vassallo and other goodie, goodie Christians, do not speak out about these other three “evils”. Some of these public people even make silly remarks like “Divorce breaks down marriages”.

Divorce, the same as annulment and separation, does not cause marriage breakdowns...these are options which make it possible (for a couple whose marriage has already broken down) to make a fresh start with a more suitable and loving partner! Children experiencing their parents’ marriage being dissolved either by divorce by annulment or separation, all go through the same pain and suffering! So, please stop trying to pull wool over the eyes of the public by misinformation.

All these “learned” people who keep on using the names of Jesus Christ and His Mother to further their agenda and force their opinion upon the voting public seem to be forgetting a very important sentence in the rites of Holy Matrimony! “I now pronounce you man and wife. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”

There is no clause in the above statement which states that, if “what God has joined together” do no longer want to stay joined, they may be disjointed by legal separation with the full blessing of the government (which includes the above politicians) or set apart by the other “evil” process of annulment courtesy of the Holy See.
