Two Romanian women were each given a four-month jail term suspended for two years for using false trademarks on jewellery they sold without the necessary trading licence.

Valentina Alexandru, 25, and Codruta Miclescu, 23, pleaded guilty to selling the fake rings and bracelets in Gozo yesterday.

Police Inspector Frank Anthony Tabone prosecuted.
