A 55-year-old man from Qrendi was yesterday charged with raping a foreigner in his hometown on Thursday.

The man, who was arraigned before Magistrate Doreen Clarke, pleaded not guilty to raping the woman, holding her against her will, committing a violent indecent assault and relapsing.

He was denied bail. Names cannot be published by court order.

Police Inspectors Louise Calleja and Carlos Cordina prosecuted.
