Man accused of raping foreigner
A 55-year-old man from Qrendi has been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to raping a foreign woman in Qrendi.
The case is alleged to have happened on Thursday.
The man denied raping the woman, holding her against her will and violating the conditions of a previous court sentence.
Bail was refused.
Police inspectors Louise Calleja and Carlos Cordina prosecuted.

Thank God! No bail this time round! Let us hope that justice is done and seen to be done! Irrespective of the fact that the woman involved is a foreigner! I do no really care what is the colour of her skin, or what language she speaks. We have been hearing of too many rapes lately. And not counting those which never come to light. Sexual assault and rape kill. As much as a bullet or a knife across your throat! Do not let such crimes catch ground in Malta. An examplery sentence, if found guilty, should be handed down. A sure deterant for similar criminals - and encouragement to those who suffer the same fate but are afraid to seek justice.
