Birkirkara FC have appointed Patrick Curmi as their new senior coach for the next two seasons.

"Mr Patrick Curmi will start immediately working on the selection of both local and foreign players to form part of Birkirkara FC squad for Season 2011 / 2012. Birkirkara FC will start preparation for the Euro Cup and 1st Round of the Uefa Europa Cup very shortly," the club committee said.

Late on Thursday, the club said it was not in a position to offer new contracts to Senior Coach Paul Zammit and Assistant Coach Branko Nisevic. It said it would also be releasing the players Nikola Vukanac, Ibrahim Babatunde, Michael Fraser, Rodolfo Kumbrevicius and Andrei Agius.

At the same time, the committee rejected the resignation of Joe Abela as Technical Advisor, and Joe B Grech as Team Manager. In their resignation letters, sent to the club earlier this week, they had expressed their deep regret over what happened in the FA Trophy semi-final match against Floriana FC, when in the last substitution, the team ended up playing with five foreign players. They explained that although that it was a genuine mistake, they still felt responsible and that they should resign.
