Somewhere on the island, a Super 5 ticket with the winning numbers 24, 37, 6, 35 and 4 is crying out to be cashed, as the winner or winners of the €1 million jackpot still has not claimed their prize.

Maltco yesterday said the prize money, on a ticket bought from San Ġwann, had not yet been cashed.

Wednesday’s draw generated lottery fever, with many who would not normally buy a ticket trying their luck. The police carried out extra patrols around lotto offices.

The highest Super 5 prize this year was €600,000, won on February 16, while in 2007 the jackpot had risen to €1.3 million.

But the winner appears to have been oblivious to the latest lucky strike. Whoever it is still has another 29 days to cash the ticket.
