I have just been in Malta for the first time in 52 years, having last been when I was just a boy of eight. I ate some of the best bread I ever had from Gormina Bakery in St Paul’s Bay, where I stayed for three weeks.
The town of Qormi is where my mother was born and I remember the bread there, as well as the Good Friday feasts, being great.
I was also lucky enough on my visit to see the Good Friday processions both in Mosta, which is where I come from, and Qormi. Glad to see the bakers succeeded in baking the world’s largest loaf – way to go! Can’t wait to get back to my homeland soon...
