On January 14, 2010, this newspaper reported Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Clyde Puli’s inspection of works at the national pool complex after extensive maintenance and upgrading costing €550,000, including “improvement to the squash courts”. Barely a year later the squash courts at the complex are in a shameful state, with paint peeling and plaster falling off the wall. The wall at the far end is so rough that the squash ball bounces off it at unpredictable angles, making play impossible.

I hope we don’t have to wait for another visit to the complex by Mr Puli before the courts are fixed!
