Obituary

 

CALCATERRA. On May 12, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, ROSE, née Micallef, widow of Wilfred, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her nephews and nieces, Professor David J. Attard, Raphael Selvagi, Maurine Micallef, Christine Steege, Mark Micallef, Helene Micallef, Dr Peter Micallef and Dr Anton Micallef and their respective spouses, her sister-in-law Denise Micallef, her great nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends, especially Fahrija and Alen Mulic. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today at 8.45 a.m. at St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family thank the staff at St James Hospital for their dedication and care. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PLUMPTON. On May 16, at St Vincent De Paul residence, ROSE of Cospicua, residing at Fgura, aged 99, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children John and his wife Lilian, George and his wife Blanche, Thomas and Rose Mary, her grandchildren, their respective spouses, her great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent De Paul residence tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Fgura parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Requiem Mass

Tomorrow’s 7 p.m. Mass at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of the soul of JOE GALEA Fu Filippo. The attendance of relatives and friends is appreciated.

In Memoriam

AQUILINA. In ever treasured and unfading memory of YOLANDA, a most beloved mother and grandmother, on the fourth anniversary of her death. Sadly missed by her daughter Alice and her husband Pierre Farrugia, granddaughters Emma and Paula, relatives and friends. A Mass for the repose of her soul will be said today at 6 p.m. at St Augustine church, Rabat.

AQUILINA – YOLANDA. On the fourth anniversary of my sister’s sudden departure. “There is no death. People die only when we forget them”. Louis, Marianne, Julian and Claire.

CASSAR TORREGGIANI. In ever loving memory of MARJORIE on the 14th anniversary of her death. Always in our hearts and deeply missed by her husband Peter and her children, Anthony and his wife Susan, Michael and his wife Angela, Helen, Thomas and Catherine and her grandchildren. The 6.30 p.m. Mass intention at Balzan parish church on Thursday, May 19 will be for her eternal rest Maranata!

GRISCTI. In everlasting memory of ANTHONY, today the ninth anniversary of his demise. Fondly remembered by his children Eric and Antoinette, his son-in-law Charles and their families. A prayer is solicited.

MICALLEF – PAUL, formerly of Rabat. On the 13th anniversary of his passing away. Fondly remembered and very sadly missed by his wife Pauline and daughters Maria and Sandra and their families. Always in our thoughts and prayers.

Children’s rights

The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice will be holding a seminar on Children’s Rights on June 1 between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana.

Crohn’s disease and colitis

The Malta Association of Crohn’s disease and colitis will be marking World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day by displaying posters on the disease at Mater Dei Hospital foyer between tomorrow until Friday. The main aim is to raise awareness about the two conditions and to provide help and support to sufferers. Information leaflets will be available.
