Short weekend programme being held to compensate

The Valletta Grand Prix will not be held this month but has been postponed to October due to the various rehabilitation works being carried out within and around Valletta.

Following a meeting with all government stakeholders, it was also agreed that the event will be temporarily moved to another venue and shall return to Valletta next year. At present discussions are being held with various authorities to establish an alternative circuit designed to suit the October VGP event. Despite the postponement of this year’s VGP event and due to the arrival of foreign VGP participants, the Valletta Grand Prix Foundation board, together with the VGP Technical Subcommittee, and in collaboration with the Old Motors Club, will organise a short weekend programme between May 20 and 22.

May 20 A day trip to the sister island of Gozo

The VGPF and OMC will be organising a full day in Gozo for VGP participants and OMC members.

This invitation is also open to all classic car enthusiasts not affiliated with either the VGPF or OMC.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a day touring the sister island of Gozo in classic cars.

May 21 – Morning and evening activities

A visit to the Malta Commercial Truck and Bus Rally is being held in Ta’ Qali. The rendezvous meeting point is at Ta’ Xbiex Marina near the Black Pearl at 11 a.m. Meanwhile, the evening event will see a static car show during Lejla fil-Belt Hompesch with the Old Motors Club. This event will run between 6 p.m. and midnight.

May 22 – Festival of Speed

A full day of competitive driving starting with quarter mile sprints in the morning and a Pursuit Challenge driving competition from midday onwards.

The event will be held at the MDRA – Malta Drag Racing Association at Ħal Far.
