The hundreds of people visiting the graves at the Addolorata Cemetery to pay tribute to their dead mothers last Sunday were shocked to find that many crosses, rings and other grave ornaments, especially those made of bronze, were missing. Graves have been desecrated, and in some instances the marble slabs have been broken in the process.

We had embellished our grave with a beautiful bronze ornament befitting our parents only to find, a few months ago, that it had been stolen and the marble slab broken.

Last week we visited the grave again for Mother’s Day only to find that this time the cross and the rings at the corner of the marble have been stolen as well.

We noticed that the same thing has happened to most of the other graves, especially in the LA section.

Is there any security at the cemetery? Have the authorities concerned considered setting up an inquiry or taken any appropriate measures so that this desecration of very dear places stops?
