The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra’s community outreach programme continues with two concerts at Naxxar parish church on May 26 and at San Lawrenz parish church in Gozo on May 27.

The concerts will be conducted by composer Christopher Muscat.

The MPO will present well-known sacred vocal works interspersed with orchestral interludes, including the Sinfonia – Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Handel’s Solomon and instrumental arrangements of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.

Gozitan soprano Claudia Tabone will perform pieces such as Caccini’s Ave Maria and the Pie Jesu from Fauré’s Requiem. The programme will also include Lament by Joseph Vella, the MPO’s composer-in-residence and Ave Maria by the Naxxar-born Joseph Fenech.

The concerts start at 7.30 p.m.

Entrance is free of charge.
