Millions of euro worth of Libyan assets have been frozen in Malta, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said in reply to a parliamentary question by Leo Brincat (PL).

A unit had been set up specifically to monitor the freezing of the assets and take action as appropriate. But Minister Fenech declined to give an exact value of the frozen assets.

Mr Fenech also announced that the government was closely following developments at Medavia airline in view of the fact that it is currently at a standstill because of the Libya crisis.

Answering a question by Silvio Parnis (PL), Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said the company had not requested any financial aid from Malta Enterprise.
