What should be a showcase as one enters the village of Lija is in fact a disgrace and an injustice to the residents of Transfiguration Avenue.

The lower part of this road is littered with debris, stones, weeds and a pavement that is uneven and in need of relaying. Also needed are more street lights. The street sweepers have become a rare sight. From the Belvedere up, however, it is a totally different picture. The pavements laid with grès tiles and street lamps are placed every four metres instead of every 12.

Also, where else does one lay down a new surface of tarmac in the road without relaying the pavements?

Come on, Lija council mem-bers, walk down Transfiguration Avenue, see the sorry state it is in and do something about it.
