Shops near polling stations to stay open
Shops within 50 meters of polling stations will not be forced to close on May 28, when the referendum is held, the GRTU said today.
It said it had written to the Chief Electoral Commissioner requesting that the shops stay open.
The Commissioner accepted the request, as long as crowds do not gather near the outlets.
All shops close to polling stations are normally kept closed as a security measure.

Finallly... some sense!
The only restriction should be for lobbying or for mis-use of these shops for propaganda purposes.
I hope we don't see shrines funnily making their appearance in these shop's shop windows.

This is the same GRTU that expected LIDL to close on Good Friday even though many of its members were open that day anyway?

Joe Scerri Good Friday is totally different from a simple referendum.
