Gas cylinder distributors, who had been idle for four days, were again doing their rounds yesterday after supplier Liquigas got an extra shipment of cylinders on Monday.
However, the company claimed that rival supplier Easygas was still hoarding about 6,000 of its cylinders.
The Malta Resources Authority on Monday had given the two companies until today to return each other’s cylinders and to declare how many of their own and of the other company they had in their possession.
Until yesterday, however, Liquigas was still missing some 6,000 of its cylinders which, it said, were at Easygas. It said it had no Easygas cylinders in its possession.
“Liquigas can import more and more cylinders but as long as Easygas keeps taking Liquigas cylinders, nothing will be solved long term,” a Liquigas spokesman said.
Both the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises - GRTU and Liquigas put the onus on the MRA to abolish this practice.
