Costa Favolosa, the new flagship of Costa Cruises, has entered dry docks in the port of Trieste until mid-May, for the final stages of construction.
During her stay in the shipyard the ship, built by Fincantieri in Marghera, will have her hull coated and cleaned, in preparation for the sea trials scheduled later this month, when she will be put through her paces in the open seas, with a series of running tests on the ship’s systems, machinery and engines.
Costa Favolosa, weighing in at 114,500 gross tonnage and with accommodation for up to 3,800 guests, will be the largest Italian-flagged vessel and a symbol of Italian-made excellence plying the seas of the world.
Favolosa’s July 2 naming ceremony, to be held in Trieste’s Piazza Unità d’Italia, will be open to the public and the whole city, and its theme will be a tribute to Italy.
For more than 60 years Costa ships have sailed worldwide, offering the best in Italian style, hospitality and cuisine, while providing holidays focused on fun and relaxation. The line’s 14 ships visit 250 destinations throughout the Mediterranean, northern Europe, the Baltic, Caribbean, South America, United Arab Emirates, Far East and Indian Ocean.
