I read, with both interest and dismay, Helena Dalli’s contribution In The Name Of The Father (May 2).

Dr Dalli, a spokesman for Labour, left more questions unanswered than answered. Primarily, was she penning the official party line on these subjects? Was she implying that religion is superstition? Is she saying that the teaching of religion is some form of brain washing (indoctrination)?

Is she implying that I and many thousands like me, who are devout Catholics, do not know how to think?

Does she think it was a waste of time insisting that the Crucifix not be removed from schools and other public places? Is she of the opinion that religion should not be taught at school?

All MPs and political parties should declare themselves clearly on these issues as the people have the right to know who is representing them in Parliament.
