Last month passenger movements at the Malta International Airport reached 300,000 for the first time in April.
The increase of 25 per cent over April 2010 was brought about by a record seat capacity, which exceeded 400,000 − an increase of 13.3 per cent.
However, when considering this year’s increase, the fact that the April 2010 figures were negatively affected by the volcanic ash disruption has to be taken into account.
The average seat load factor also increased when compared to April 2010, reaching 73 per cent, while aircraft movements grew by 10.2 per cent.
Passenger movements in the first four months of 2011 increased by 19.2 per cent from the January to April period in 2010. Aircraft movements in the same four-month periods registered an increase of 13 per cent. The seat capacity increased by 15.5 per cent, while the average seat load factor increased by two per cent.
