A 40-year-old man was yesterday jailed for three years after he admitted to defiling and participating in sexual activities with a young girl.

The man, from Cospicua, who cannot be named because of his relation to the girl, yesterday admitted to the crimes which took place between 2007 and 2009 when the girl was between eight and 10 years old.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke took into consideration his early admission before handing down the jail term.
