It was long overdue that David Agius should be brought to book for his stupid antics at a basketball venue. The one-month suspension he received from Ta’ Qali is a joke! The Malta Basketball Association should restore honour to the role of its vice-presidency by stripping him of this position and passing it on to a person more deserving of it.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister should remove him from his role as government whip and from within the Nationalist Party.

As The Times stated, “this would not be the first time the temperamental MP has lost his cool at Ta’ Qali during a basketball match”. In November 2009, I was there when Mr Agius lost his temper in an altercation with a spectator.

I remember a while ago when a spectator (the father of a player) was barred from Ta’ Qali for a month because he called the referee a clown. But in that incident the spectator did not pass abusive remarks!

It is beyond anyone’s imagination how Mr Agius got to be vice-president of the MBA! I also beg to ask, what qualifications and experience does one need to be endowed with in order to become government Whip?
