A pair of French Air Force Mirage F1 fighters has landed at Malta airport, after apparently running short of fuel.

The fighters are the third pair of French fighters to declare an emergency and land in Malta after operations over Libya.

The first two fighters arrived on April 20 after their mid-air refuelling aircraft suffered a technical hitch, while the second pair landed here after one of them had a hydraulic problem. The damaged Mirage is still in Malta undergoing repairs.
