Celebration of local fashion

The seven-day Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week kicks off on May 15 at the Radisson Golden Sands in Għajn Tuffieħa to celebrate the island’s fashion scene, culminating in the Diet Coke Malta Fashion Awards the following Saturday at MFCC Ta'Qali. A private launch party will also be held on May 11 in Valletta.

Among the events during the week, supported by Estetika, is a charity auction of designer dresses at Villa Francia, a fashion show at the Casino Maltese and Charles and Ron’s anticipated collection.

The public will be able to enjoy a weddings event at the Radisson Golden Sands and fashion shows in Paceville, the Grand Hotel Excelsior and the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa.

Throughout the week, local and foreign fashion photographers will be showcasing their work in a collective display at The Point, in Sliema, which will also feature items designed in Malta, including headpieces, handmade jewellery and shoes.

Visiting the Malta Fashion Week will be the president of the European Fashion Council, the CEO of World Fashion Channel and British fashion designer Julien Macdonald, who will be at the Debenhams store at The Point to launch his collection on May 21.
