Alberta Group’s International Safety Training Centre has appointed Andrew Gilravey operations manager responsible for the planning, maintenance and development of training and overall management of the training centre.
Valhmor Micallef has been named health and safety manager with a brief to provide consultancy, risk assessments, and staff training.
The appointments fall under ISTC’s ongoing strategy to achieve and support future business growth.
Mr Gilravey brings 26 years’ operational service with the British Fire Service, working with the world’s leading fire service training institutes, and serving as fire chief and head of training with the Maritime Industrial Firefighting Academy in Dubai.
His expertise lies in ensuring a high degree of training, ranging from risk assessment to advanced and basic fire fighting techniques, hazardous material and environmental awareness training, fire and rescue techniques, fire behaviour and emergency response.
Mr Micallef, in turn, is set to improve the quality and choice of the range of health and safety services currently provided at ISTC.
Backed by nine years at the Enforcement Directorate, he has gained expertise in legislative requirements, quality audits and operational improvement, with particular specialisation in issues concerning fire safety and health and safety.
He is an Occupational Health and Safety graduate from the University of Malta and has a proven track record in assessing hazardous situations.
ISTC personnel have trained 20,000 people from 500 organisations to date, including Shell, British Gas, Eni, Halliburton, Repsol, Schlumberger, and Total.
