The Moviment Żwieġ Bla Divorzju yesterday put up its first two billboards in the run-up to the May 28 referendum.
The first billboard shows a child embracing his parents, symbolising their unity and commitment as a family. It also includes the campaign slogan Flimkien għal Uliedna (Together for our children), which was chosen to emphasise the fact that children had the faintest voice in the divorce debate, yet they would be the most negatively affected if divorce were introduced.
The second billboard shows an alarm clock bearing only the numbers from one to four, flanked by the question Żwieġ li jiskadi? (a marriage which expires?) and the reply LE, grazzi (No, thanks.). It explains in simple terms the uncertainties and lack of commitment which no-fault divorce legislation would lead to.
