Tarxien Rainbows will be looking to improve their chances of a top-four finish when they take on Ħamrun Spartans this evening (8 p.m.).
A win today would propel Tarxien above Marsaxlokk in fourth, in the process turning the heat on the latter who face Birkirkara tomorrow.
On a high after Tarxien’s 4-2 win over Marsaxlokk, coach Noel Coleiro hopes his players can maintain their winning momentum ahead of the FA Trophy semi-final against Valletta next month.
Brazilian striker Cristiano is suspended for Tarxien while defender Everton is rated as doubtful due to a knee injury.
While Tarxien’s season is still alive, the same cannot be said of the Spartans who are languishing in sixth place and are out of the Trophy.
Coach Steve D’Amato has several players missing. Bulgarian midfielder Nikolai Chipev is suspended while Marcelo Pereira (flu), Dene Shields (ankle), Aaron Attard (knee) and Martin Hrubsa (knee) are still sidelined.
Results so far: Ħamrun vs Tarxien 3-1, 1-3, 1-4.
