Residents of Delabole, near Bodmin in Cornwell, are teaming up to create what may be Britain’s first “solar street” as they have solar panels fitted by HomeSun, one of the UK’s leading providers of free solar energy.
Lynn Sanderson, Mark Saltern, Graham Sanderson, Helen Saltern, Doreen and Ron Hopkins, all residents of Delabole said HomeSun has calculated that approximately 30,000 homes in Cornwall have roofs of the right size and orientation to make solar power viable.
They said that it’s not just the environment that will benefit. Solar panels could knock off £2.6 million off the county’s collective fuel bills each year, they remarked.
