Two judges, three magistrates sworn in

Magistrates Silvio Meli and Anthony Ellul were sworn in as judges by President George Abela this morning.

During the same ceremony, lawyers Francesco Depasquale, Neville Camilleri and Josette Demicoli were sworn in as Magistrates.

The ceremony was held at the Palace in Valletta in the presence of Chief Justice Silvio Camilleri, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Justice Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici and Attorney General Peter Grech as well as the families of the new judges and magistrates.

During the ceremony some of the lights at the Palace went out because of damage caused during cable works in Valletta, but proceedings continued normally.
