Advertising media value in the main tourism markets last year amounted to about €61,873,000, meaning that every €1 spent rendered €118 worth of promotion, the Malta Tourism Authority said.

Last year, the MTA hosted over 600 guests, including 386 journalists from the international press.

The information was released on the occasion of the second edition of the MTA Malta Tourism Press Awards ceremony. The initiative is aimed at honouring journalists, TV producers and photographers from all over the world whose work contributed to the enhancement of tourism in the Maltese islands.

The winners of the five categories were: Magazine article category - Wino E. Leuenberger (Switzerland) – Malta Die Festungsinsel Im Mittelmeer – Aerzte Medico Journal.

Newspaper article category –Stephan Brünjes (Germany) – Bunter Mix Auf Kleinstem Raum – Hamburger Abendblatt.

Online article category – Anne-Marie Minvielle (France) – Malte, un Archipel en Mediterranée - www.routard.com.
