Labour Party spokesman Kurt Farrugia has been ordered to pay Nationalist mayor Robert Cutajar €3,000 in compensation over a libellous article that appeared on a website of which he was editor.

The article, entitled Lm500 Allegedly Paid To PN Employee For Job, was published on September 11, 2006 on the Labour Party news portal Maltastar.com.

Magistrate Silvio Meli ordered Mr Farrugia to pay Mr Cutajar compensation for libel damages.
