Update 3: Another tremor felt in parts of Malta

Another earth tremor was felt in several localities of Malta this morning, at about 11.25a.m.

The tremor was the fifth recorded close to Malta in a few hours.

The first one, at 00.11 a.m., was reported in several localities including Qormi, Msida, Floriana, Marsa, Siggiewi, Valletta, Marsascala and Zabbar. No damage was caused.

The Seismic Monitoring and Research Unit, University of Malta and the Italian Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanalogia reported that the first tremor - which was the most widely felt - had an undersea magnititude 3.5 earthquake 37km east of Malta. The location was 35.85°N, 14.892°E at a depth of 7.1km.

A reader from Msida told timesofmalta.com she even saw water moving in her cup at her second floor apartment.

In Floriana, a man said he felt a door shake. In Balluta Buildings, St. Julians, a reader said that the windows rattled and the floor shook.

In Zabbar, a man said the pets reacted to the shock.

The University seismic monitoring unit said the earthquake was followed by other events at approximately the same location at 03:34 (magnitude  3.3), 04:44 (magnitude 2.5)  and 06:39 (magnitude 3.5) local time.

"This  seismic activity is associated with the offshore faults around the Maltese islands, which often occurs as “earthquake swarms” lasting from a few hours to a few days," Pauline Galea, who heads the seismic monitoring unit said.

These events were considered normal seismic activity associated with the offshore faults around the Maltese islands.

The location of the earthquakes may be viewed on the website www.phys.um.edu.mt/seismic, where residents may also fill in the online questionnaire if they felt any shaking.

On April 1, a 6.1-magnitude undersea quake which rocked the southeastern Aegean Sea, off the north coast of Crete, was felt in several localities in Malta.

@Charlies C. Brown::: You stated "ANGELIK and his faithful followers and all those who had their fithy feet washed on Thursday !!! " This seem to be an insult not only towards Angelik and his followers and to all Maltese Catholics when this was originally done by Jesus Christ Himself on His Disciples.
He who prejudge others will later be Judged for his insults towards others. What happened yesterday and again today Easter, is just a small sample what we are about to be faced with.

I have read what some good persons are stating or saying that we are being faced with the predictions of the end times, for we have seen nations against nations, earthquakes happening in hundred different countries daily (see reports on world-earthquakes) and the many other things that are daily being reported.
This is not a time to Joke, for we have a saying "you will soon see the moon in your well"

Stop this nonsense!!
Religion has nothing to do with natural convulsions, phenomena which are characteristic of a living planet.
Such superstition is indicative of primitive beliefs ignorant of scientific facts regarding the evolution of planet Earth!
The Maltese are no longer dupes!

its normal seismic activity i guess, well i hope, anyway.

its just that this time round, we noticed it , whereas most times it is only noticed by the seismic department.

At approx the same time which you mentioned I heard a 2 sounds as well... it was like a thunder. I tried looking outside to see if I see any planes, but didn't see anything. Could it that it was a sound of a tremor/earthquake.

I also thought it was an explosion. Felt like something blew up in the distance.

Felt it too in Sliema. And I blamed my son - how typical. I thought he had moved something in the kitchen. Sounded a bit like the motor noise a fridge. Thought it was a bit earlier but didn't even check the time as I was dozing off. Definitely after 11.30 though.
